I don’t think Microsoft is trying to make money from selling windows anymore. They changed their focus to a b2b company. I feel like Nadella has created a culture of collaboration and integration. They have ramped up their online services to rival Amazon with the winning of the government contract, they have increased their integration. Microsoft has the Linux subsystem. They (tried) to allow their phones to run android apps.

I don’t think they are going to try to win people over. They are trying to be the person you can integrate with and use for part of your enterprise system.
