I don’t disagree with you that it could happen; I disagree that it is a good choice. One of the nice things is you can use the Mac for x86 development and they’ll loose those development customers. Microsoft has been getting better with their development tools. Before it was nice to use the Mac because of the Unix-like architecture.

Where the’ll try to get customers with the change is getting the smaller/thinner laptops and an all-day battery. I feel like in some ways the change illustrates a failure on Intel’s end to generate less heat. An i9 MacBook sounded good until it was clocked back because of heat.

I think a transition to ARM may be better in ten years once people and tools are better for cross development but I feel like even if things are going be emulated it’s going to tank my battery life. Zoom and Chrome already drink enough as it is.
