I appreciate your response. For clarity, I disagree because I don't agree with the author that "absolutely no user in right consciousness would opt-in." I am giving an instance of why someone in their right consciousness would opt-in. I agree my examples are recommended content. Still, along with the idea of data collection and retention, I feel that my argument still can hold. I understand why people want to opt-out, but my complaint is that the author fails to recognize why people want to opt-in.
Nonetheless, here you go, not my story but a friend's. COVID has been crazy. I've been stir crazy and wanting to get outside and go running. I get pain from running, and so I'm reading about it online. A blog recommends getting new shoes. I know absolutely nothing about running shoes except I want shoes. The running industry is something I've never known, but I know I want shoes to help me because of a blog. I start getting ads for different shoes, and I can hear about companies I've no name recognition. Before, I only knew about Nike, but now I know about Brooks, Hoka, Altra, Mizuno, Saucony, etc. I received the ads on youtube, Facebook, games, pandora.
